KEY WEST SEAPORT
Wednesday, July 16, 2014:
After a bit of a lazy morning, we headed to Key West Seaport for a little shopping and an early lunch. This pic is taken from Turtle Kraals 2nd floor deck. Great food, great atmosphere. Turtle Kraals is one of 6 restaurant/bars that are owned by the owner of the Philadelphia 76er's. I purchased some really cool things and had them shipped home in a care package to my brother, David. I think he will really like them.
We then headed back to the house to relax, nap, watch TV....basically no agenda. It was wonderful. The humidity is taking a toll. Tanner has been here two weeks, so he had adjusted, but Kristi and I, not so much. Hopefully, in a few days, we will also acclimate to the situation. The temp is only 87-90 but the humidity is at least 90%, so it feels hot and thick. If I lived here, I would cut my hair short and never buy lotion again.
PEPE'S KEY WEST
After our rest, we headed back to the Seaport area to a little place that is a favorite of the locals and also Coach Leach. It is called Pepe's. Wonderful place. Great food and happy hour. 50 cent oysters! We met several locals who gave us some good information about wonderful places to go that are not on the tourist circuit.
TREE BAR DUVAL STREET
We left Pepe's to head to Duval Street (think Bourbon Street in NOLA) and get some take out pizza. Tree Bar is next to the pizza place. SWEET Ruby Red Grapefruits are the thing here. They make drinks with fresh squeezed juice. Super delish! We took the pizza home and ate before watching a bit of TV and calling it a night.
Today, we are headed north toward Miami. I need to go wake the sleepy heads up!
